Not sure if that can in the back of your fridge is still good? Enter the production date printed on your Monster Energy can and find out exactly when it expires.
Monster Energy prints a date code on every can and bottle, but the format can vary depending on where it was produced and packaged. In the United States, you will most commonly see the date stamped on the bottom of the can in one of these formats:
Some cans print the expiration date directly (labelled "Best By" or "Best Before"), while others print the manufacturing or production date and expect you to know the shelf life. That is where this calculator comes in.
| Product | Shelf Life (Sealed) | After Opening |
|---|---|---|
| Monster Original (canned) | 18–24 months | 2–4 days (refrigerated) |
| Monster Zero Sugar | 18–24 months | 2–4 days (refrigerated) |
| Monster Java (coffee blend) | 12–18 months | 1–2 days (refrigerated) |
| Monster Juice variants | 12–18 months | 1–2 days (refrigerated) |
| Monster in glass bottle | 12 months | 24 hours (refrigerated) |
Monster Energy past its best-by date is not automatically dangerous — the carbonation and flavour may have degraded, but it is unlikely to make you sick if it has been stored properly and sealed. That said, taste and potency are noticeably worse after the date. Some of the active ingredients, particularly caffeine compounds and B vitamins, can lose effectiveness over time.
If the can is dented, swollen, or makes an unusual sound when opened, discard it regardless of the date.
