Enter your contract start date and the agreed duration to calculate the exact expiry date. Works for employment contracts, rental agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and more.
Whether you are a freelancer, a business owner, a landlord, or an HR professional, losing track of when a contract ends can be costly. A missed renewal deadline on a service agreement can mean losing a key vendor. An overlooked employment contract end date can create legal exposure. And a lapsed rental agreement without a fresh renewal is a headache neither party wants to deal with.
This calculator takes the guesswork out of it. Enter the start date, punch in the duration, and you have the exact expiry date in seconds — no spreadsheets, no manual counting.
| Contract Type | Typical Duration | Renewal Notice Period |
|---|---|---|
| Employment Contract | 1–3 years | 30–90 days |
| Rental / Lease Agreement | 11 months / 1–2 years | 1–3 months |
| Service Agreement (SaaS/IT) | 1 year | 30–60 days |
| Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) | 2–5 years | N/A (auto-expires) |
| Maintenance Contract | 1 year | 30 days |
| Insurance Policy | 1 year | 30–45 days |
| Vendor / Supplier Contract | 1–3 years | 60–90 days |
In most jurisdictions, a contract that reaches its end date without a formal renewal or extension simply terminates. Neither party has any ongoing obligations under the original terms after that point. However, some contracts include an auto-renewal clause — which means if you do not actively cancel or renegotiate before the notice period, the contract rolls over automatically for another term.
Always read the "term and termination" clause in any agreement before signing, so you know exactly when and how the contract ends.
Set a calendar reminder at least 60 days before any important contract expires. That gives you time to review the terms, negotiate changes if needed, or begin a proper procurement process for a replacement. For high-value contracts, many organisations build a contract register — a simple spreadsheet or CRM record that logs the start date, end date, renewal notice period, and assigned owner for every active agreement.
